30-Year-Old Mom to Swim the Channel for Charity

Jenny Zwijnen, a 30-year-old mom from the UK, is set to swim the English Channel for charity. This will be her second time swimming the Channel to raise money for a good cause.

NANTWICH mum Jenny Zwijnen loves a challenge – that’s why she’s swimming the English Channel a second time for charity.

The 30-year-old, who first took the plunge last summer as part of a six-strong relay team, is swimming the 21-mile stretch of water on her own in August.

But why is she doing it again?

“I’m not satisfied with doing just normal things,” said Jenny, who runs Concorde Trophies in Crewe. “I like to do things which are out of the ordinary.

“When I did it the first time, in the relay, I enjoyed the open water swimming so much I wanted to push myself further and go solo.”

Jenny is fundraising for The Rifles’ Care for Casualties Appeal – a cause very close to her heart.

Her husband, Sergeant Andre Zwijnen, is serving with 4 Rifles and has completed several tours of Iraq and Afghanistan and is due to go back out again next year.
